How does a Catholic get to heaven?
The two sentences are these: To come to God and be saved, you need to repent, have faith, and be baptized. If you commit mortal sin, you need to repent, have faith, and go to confession. That's it. That's all there is to it.
As Catholics we believe that we are saved by God's grace alone. We can do nothing, apart from God's grace, to receive the free gift of salvation. We also believe, however, that we have to respond to God's grace.
Catholicism. The Catholic Church holds that "all who die in God's grace and friendship but still imperfectly purified" undergo a process of purification, which the church calls purgatory, "so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven".
Short answer: yes! Long answer: It breaks my heart every time a mother or father asks that question upon the death of their infant or child. The untimely death is itself so heartbreaking. But coupled with that question filled with heart wrenching anguish begs the question who we think God is.
Paul then clearly states who and what determines who gets into heaven — “we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” God determines who gets into heaven. Entrance into heaven is not something everyone is granted because of the good things they have done.
The church now both buries and prays for suicide victims, entrusting them into God's limitless mercy. The Catholic Church teaches explicitly that there is no sin, no matter how serious, that cannot be forgiven (Catechism of the Catholic Church). To imply otherwise is a challenge to God's omnipotence.
Roman Catholicism is the largest of the three major branches of Christianity. Thus, all Roman Catholics are Christian, but not all Christians are Roman Catholic. Of the estimated 2.3 billion Christians in the world, about 1.3 billion of them are Roman Catholics.
This statement assumes that no one can bypass purgatory. But that's not true, according to Catholic teaching. In paragraph 1472, the Catechism teaches, “A conversion which proceeds from a fervent charity can attain the complete purification of the sinner in such a way that no punishment would remain.”
The faith teaches that final judgement will come at the end of time, when all of humanity will be raised from the dead and body and soul will be reunited.
Loving God with our whole heart is incompatible with not being sorry for some sin against him. So, we should always be truly sorry for all our sins, including venial sins. If we live like this, if we truly strive for holiness, we have every chance of going straight to heaven, bypassing purgatory, when we die.
Where do unbaptized souls go?
Limbo is the nether region where, according to Roman Catholic tradition, unbaptized babies go after death. It's a pleasant enough place, though devoid of the bliss of God's presence.
Who can get to heaven? No consensus on whether belief in God, being Christian is required. While most U.S. adults believe in heaven, there is disagreement about who can go there.
Do I still go to heaven? THE ANSWER IS YES!!! When Jesus died on the cross, he paid the penalty of sin for all who believe in him. He died for your past, present and future sin.
[9] Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, [10] Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:21 says, “Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” This final grouping are those sins that have a direct and negative impact on those around us.

- Give your heart to Jesus Christ.
The unpardonable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy includes ridicule and attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to the devil.
According to the Catholic Church, there are seven mortal or cardinal sins: lust, gluttony, avarice (greed), sloth (laziness), anger, envy, and pride.
- Apostasy, heresy, schism.
- Violation of consecrated species.
- Physical attack on a pope or bishop.
- A priest who absolves an accomplice in sexual sin.
- Unauthorized ordination of a bishop.
- Direct violation by a confessor of the seal of confession.
- Anyone who reveals the overheard confession of another.
According to the Catholic understanding of salvation, rooted in Scripture, we aren't just saved from sin. We're saved for eternal life with God. I have been saved. Through the death and resurrection of Christ, I have been saved from the consequences of original sin.
Who do Catholics pray to?
Worship belongs only to God. Catholics do ask Mary to pray for us and believe that her intercession has a great effect in calling forth God's grace and mercy. But this is because of her special relationship with Jesus, not because of her own merits. Why do Catholics ask Mary to pray for them?
Catholics do not pray to Mary as if she were God. Prayer to Mary is memory of the great mysteries of our faith (Incarnation, Redemption through Christ in the rosary), praise to God for the wonderful things he has done in and through one of his creatures (Hail Mary) and intercession (second half of the Hail Mary).
The duration of a soul's existence in purgatory is not defined. The concept of time does not hold true in this state. However, it is ascertained that all souls in purgatory eventually find their way to heaven. Their period of suffering (purification) may depend on the seriousness of their sins.
Purgatory is the process, after death, of burning out the last of our attachments so that we can enter Heaven 100% freed of everything to do with sin.
According to Catholic belief, purgatory is a place or state where the souls of sinners undergo purification to cleanse their sins before entering heaven. However, it's important to note that the term 'purgatory' doesn't actually appear anywhere in the Bible.
