Introducing Dasha, the lovable pup born in the beginning of this year, whose journey began with a twist of fate. Originally acquired at a free puppy giveaway in a Walmart parking lot, Dasha faced an uncertain future when her first owner, faced with housing restrictions, planned to abandon her. However, destiny intervened when a compassionate neighbor, who happened to be a rescue worker, persuaded the owner to surrender Dasha to a rescue organization instead.

Despite her rocky start, Dasha's spirit remains undaunted. While she may display some puppy behaviors such as being a bit mouthy and occasionally demanding attention with her barks, her heart is brimming with affection and curiosity. She's a social butterfly who thrives on human companionship, always eager to join in on adventures or cuddle up for some quality time.

In her foster home, Dasha has proven to be a playful and respectful companion to other dogs and animals, showing a particular fondness for games like tug-of-war and wrestling. Although her training journey has just begun, Dasha's potential shines bright, awaiting the patient guidance of a loving family. Her current foster home also has birds and cats and while she's interested, she is easily distracted and has been able to coexist with them well.

Despite her initial shyness in new environments, Dasha quickly warms up, revealing her affectionate and goofy nature. While she may require some patience and training, the rewards of welcoming Dasha into your home are boundless. With love, dedication, and a bit of training, Dasha promises to fill your life with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

We strongly encourage basic obedience training for all our puppies, as it not only helps your puppy blossom into a well-balanced canine citizen with good manners, but it also helps to form a lasting bond between your puppy and the humans in your family. The more time and energy you invest in your puppy now, the more likely you will have a great family companion who is welcomed at family gatherings and in public for many years to come. Adopters should plan to spend plenty of time playing with your new puppy, training her in basic commands, tricks, and skills like leash-crate-, and house training, socializing them with new situations and dogs, and giving them plenty of free play and working play (like pack walks). A tired dog is a happy dog!

Dasha is an active and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!

Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.

An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see

for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
