A Family Affair (2024) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Kevin Maher Times (UK) King, enviably sporting the complete range of facial expressions, carries much of the movie’s emotional weight, and even more so when Solomon’s script, in the final third, cleverly exposes Zara’s self-obsession. It could have been so good. Rated: 2/4 Jun 28, 2024 Full Review A Family Affair (2024) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Jonathan Romney Financial Times Played more for laughs, Family Affair feels somewhat cynically targeted at two demographics at once: mature women (“Imagine pulling a fresh young hunk . . . ”) and their daughters (“Ohmigod what if my mom like . . . ewww”). Rated: 1/5 Jun 28, 2024 Full Review A Family Affair (2024) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Jillian Chilingerian Offscreen Central A Family Affair is a reminder that movie stars still exist and their names are Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron. Jun 28, 2024 Full Review A Family Affair (2024) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Joseph Robinson Fish Jelly Films (YouTube) One could say A Family Affair is the spiritual comedic sequel to Anatomy of a Fall. I'm going to say this is a mess of a movie that may qualify as a guilty pleasure. Rated: 2/5 Jun 28, 2024 Full Review A Family Affair (2024) | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Making matters worse is the utter lack of romantic chemistry between Kidman and Efron...The woeful script doesn’t do them any favors, filling their mouths with corny dialogue and setting their story on the most predictable trajectory imaginable. Rita E Ugh. Painful to watch. Hard to get past Kidman's awful bug-eyes and frozen lips. The only bright spot was Joey King, who carried the film on her small shoulders. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review genevieve l How easy can it be for writers to write about stories about actors and their assistants in Hollywood? How about being imaginative and talk about the rest of the world?? Sorry, this was a complete waste of time Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review Amy B If I could give this zero stars I would. This was the worst movie I have watched in ages. There was ZERO onscreen chemistry between Efron and Kidman. I actually was hoping he’d fall in love with Joey. They had more chemistry than Kidman. Absolutely awful romcom casting. The storyline was so drawn out that I ended up fast forwarding conversations between Kidman and Efron because of how boring they were. Honestly the plot was disastrous. I like all three actors but not in this film. Joey King was the only one who really did well with what she was given and the scenes with Efron and King were comedic and entertaining. If they brought out a romance movie with Zac Efron and Joey King that I would watch but seriously the 21 year age group between Kidman and Efron was hard to look past (gross). Honestly don’t waste your time watching this train wreck. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review rinku d I really loved the movie. The Hollywood Inside jokes landed just right. Joey King was fantastic. As was Zac Efron. I loved the dynamics between all the characters. If I were to spot a weak link it was surprisingly the Brooke- Chris chemistry. But overall, a great watch. I would watch it again!
